There is more to being a “Wedding
Disc Jockey” than just playing music. Full Capacity DJs has
perfected wedding receptions over the last 12 years. We know when
to guide you through “the formalities” by coordinating
with the bridal party, the photographer and the reception facility
staff. We are the emcee and the “time keeper” of your
special day. Let us help create the mood that reflects your style.
We will make your reception a fun, exciting and memorable event.
Steve Van Pelt and Tim Williams of Full Capacity DJs will greet
you and your wedding party prior to entering the reception room.
They will be sure everyone is in their proper place for the introductions,
using the introduction format planner you completed. At this time,
we will also give any other pertinent information to the wedding
party such as procedures for lining up, toasts and spotlight dances.
ENTRANCE:
There are two types of wedding introductions, formal or informal.
The formal introduction is when the Bride, Groom and Wedding Party
are introduced. An informal introduction is when only the Bride
and Groom are introduced. Usually the bride and groom share their
first dance immediately following the introductions. This is,
of course, at the discretion of the bride and groom.
After the introductions and/or receiving line, the bride and
groom will have about 15-30 minutes to socialize with guests before
sitting down for dinner. We will already have spoken with the
caterer and know what time to make the dinner announcement along
with what procedures the hall may follow for serving.
THE TOAST:
When the guests are seated and the Wedding Party is at the head
table, we will introduce the Best Man and/or Maid/Matron of Honor
who will propose a toast to the Bride and Groom before dinner.
In some cases, a dinner prayer will follow the toast. We will
introduce the person who is giving the blessing.
DINNER:
Light background music of your choice will be played while you
and the guests are eating. We will provide you with several suggestions.
CAKE CUTTING:
We will be watching the clock while dinner is served. We will
notice when the bridal party is finished eating and ask the bride
and groom if they are ready to cut the cake. You may want to wait
a few minutes to visit with someone, get a drink, use the bathroom,
etc. We will “keep time" for you. We will already have
coordinated with the photographer and they are waiting to proceed
with the formalities. When you are ready, we will direct your
guests’ attention to where you are cutting the cake.
SPOTLIGHT DANCES: We understand the importance
of a “time line” and keeping the “flow”
moving. It is the DJ’s responsibility to be sure all wedding
reception formalities were performed according to your request
on the planner. After cutting the cake, the bride and groom usually
proceed to the dance floor. Full Capacity DJs keeps the flow of
the spotlight dances moving along by typically asking the entire
wedding party and parents to the dance floor. They form a semi-
circle around the dance floor keeping an open view for the guests
who are seated to watch. This formation makes the spotlight dances
flow smoothly as the DJ does not have to put on “filler”
songs to coordinate the people participating in each dance. Please
visit our song lists page for suggestions
on spotlight dances.
FATHER/DAUGHTER
DANCE: When everyone is prepared for the dance,
the DJ will ask the bride’s father to take his daughter’s
hand as the next song is for them.
MOTHER/GROOM DANCE: When the father/daughter
dance is finished, the DJ then asks the Groom to dance with his
mother.
WEDDING PARTY DANCE:
(if not done immediately following the bride/groom dance):
The entire wedding party participates in this dance. Sometimes,
the spouses of the people in the bridal party join as well.
At most receptions, you will do all of the above mentioned dances,
however; it varies with family circumstances and personal preference.
Some newlyweds choose individual songs for these dances while
others make combinations. Whatever you choose, Full Capacity DJs
will be ready to handle the flow for you.
BOUQUET/GARTER TOSS: Full Capacity DJs works with
your photographer at all times, making sure that he/she is ready
to capture those memory making moments. Since we have worked weddings
for over 12 years, we are familiar with most of the photographers
in Central New York. First we ask the Bride and Groom to enter
the dance floor. We seat the bride and ask your guests to cheer
on the groom while he removes the garter. Following the removal
of the garter, the DJ will ask the single women to come onto the
dance floor for the bouquet toss. Immediately following the toss,
the DJ asks the single men onto the dance floor for the garter
toss. At some receptions, the man and woman who caught the bouquet
and garter come to the dance floor. The man puts the Good Luck
garter on the woman’s leg.
Full Capacity DJs offers the Traditional Way and the Safe
Way for putting the garter on the woman who caught the
bouquet. Sometimes an “odd” combination will have
caught the garter and bouquet, or a child may have caught one
or both. Following both tosses, we will ask the bride and groom
if they would like the Safe Way. Performing the
routine the Safe Way will have the Woman turn
the Man around and have him take a seat, while she puts the garter
over his pants on his leg.
DOLLAR DANCE:
Some newlyweds choose to have a dollar dance. We will play several
slow songs giving the guests an opportunity to dance with the
Bride and Groom. The Best Man and Maid/Matron of Honor will collect
donations from each dancer.
Full Capacity DJs can also announce this dance without referring
to a “dollar dance” or demanding money. After the
Bride and Groom are on the dance floor, we typically announce
this as follows: “Ladies and Gentlemen, we now have the
perfect opportunity for you to share a dance with the bride and
groom. The Maid/Matron of Honor and the Best Man will also be
on the dance floor to accept any donations you wish to share with
the new couple that they can put toward their honeymoon and new
lives together. Once again, this is a fantastic opportunity to
share a dance with the Bride and Groom."
Whether you choose a “traditional” format
or want to change up the formalities, Full Capacity DJs is ready
to meet your expectations. YOU are the client. YOU are paying
for our service. WE will do our best to make your dreams come
true on this special day. |
